Sr. Project Engineer – Retro Commissioning & Optimization Specialist
Salary: $130k - $160k/year

The ideal candidate will:
Be a versatile problem solver, and passionate decarbonization crusader, familiar with major control systems, and skilled in various control systems programming languages.
Use your experience in mechanical HVAC systems analysis to develop more efficient and sustainable Building Automation Systems (BAS).
Have a keen eye for detail and perfection while also being able to diagnose and problem solve complex systems to achieve high performance outcomes.
Act as a leader, subject matter expert and mentor to the team around you and act a lynchpin between the project management team, the IoT team, design engineers and all of the skilled trades on the project site.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians on a variety of innovative, multimillion-dollar, large-scale energy solutions projects.
Master all technical aspects of a project’s mechanical equipment, establish cooperative relationships with building operators, and provide those operators on-site training and support, bringing a significant value-add to our clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform on-site surveys of the client’s existing controls and BAS during the design phase
Analyze the client’s existing sequences of operation as well as the performance of their mechanical systems
Select and size the correct major controls devices, such as valves, actuators, and sensors
Establish and document new and existing control points
Establish optimized sequences of operation
Work closely with the Project Manager to develop RFPs to attract the correct controls contractor for hire
Collaborate with the Project Manager and mechanical systems manufacturers to perform start-ups on all systems and equipment, including boilers and chillers
Train the client’s on-site staff in use and maintenance of newly installed mechanical systems
Optimize the operation of new and existing equipment and systems to achieve peak efficiency
Inform M&V plans, support, troubleshooting and ongoing review of savings optimization
Monitor completed projects to maintain energy savings during the follow-up period
Support the auditing and development of studies by providing recommendations to the energy engineering team and oversight of the solutions being recommended
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
5-10 years' experience on project job sites implementing retrofit solutions with a strong focus on HVAC BAS
Proficiency in control systems from leading manufacturers, including Delta, Siemens and Johnson Controls
Experience in writing and implementing sequence of operations
Excellent written and verbal communication
A client-centric approach to collaboration and problem solving
Skilled to draft reports, present proposals, and communicate directly with stakeholders
Experienced in MS Excel
AutoCAD capability is a strong asset
EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU NEED
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or building systems-related field
PMP certification from PMI is strongly preferred
CEM certification from AEE is strongly preferred
Additional certifications in commissioning, retro commissioning and systems optimization from a recognized authority will be strongly preferred
Fluent in spoken and written English
Expertise in energy efficiency systems and knowledge of the energy market
Previous or related experience engaging with multiple business/project stakeholders
Valid driver’s license
